Keven Lacombe of SpiderTech p/b C10 sprinted to fifth place in opening stage of the Profronde Van Drenthe in The Netherlands Friday.

SpiderTech helped bring back an early breakaway in the final stages of the 181-km race and then Francois Parisien launched an attack on the major climb of the day, the Vamberg. The move didn’t stick, but it did put the SpiderTech rider in second in the climbers’ competition.

Kenny Van Hummel of the Skil-Shimano team took the bunch sprint that decided the stage, with Lacombe crossing the line in fifth with the same time.

The Profronde wraps up with a 180-km second and final stage Saturday.
