The final round of the UCI cyclocross World Cup takes place in Hoogerheide, Netherlands on Sunday, Jan. 28. The Grand Prix Adrie van der Poel was won in 2017 by Lars Van der Haar in the elite men’s category and Marianne Vos in the elite women’s race.

There will be 13 Canadians who start the races on Sunday headlined by elite national champions Michael van den Ham and Christel Ferrier-Bruneau. U-23 women’s Canadian champion Ruby West will line-up as will Maghalie Rochette, Mical Dyck, Siobhan Kelly and Magdeleine Vallieres Mill in the women’s race. Mark McConnell will start the elite men’s race and Nicholas Diniz will start the u23 men’s race. Four junior men will race with Tyler Clark, Conor Martin, Dylan Kerr and Paul Mysko lining up. Cycling Canada have sent a full roster to Europe preparing for the World Championships next weekend.

While the overall winners of the 2017-2018 World Cup are sealed up for Mathieu van der Poel and Sanne Cant, the race is the last chance for riders to hone their form before the world championships which take place Feb. 3 and 4 in Valkenburg, Netherlands.

The Hoogerheide course is a fast affair with a forested area and a long staircase. There is an off camber section and some trenches ensuring it’s a challenging ride. The weather on Sunday is supposed to be warm with overcast. The course should be dry and fast.
