Maggie Coles-Lyster joins Macogep-Argon18 for 2018

Junior world track champion moves to elite level with Canadian squad

Maggie Coles-Lyster of Maple Ridge, B.C. will ride for Quebec-based team Macogep-Argon18-Girondins powered by Mazda in 2018. The 18-year-old has moved through the junior ranks of the sport where she has found success especially in track cycling. In 2017, Coles-Lyster won the junior track world championship title in the points race in Montichiari, Italy and a silver in omnium.

Macogep-Argon18, which had UCI designation in 2017, had a strong international schedule last year which included the BeNe Ladies Tour, Cascade Cycling Classic, the GP de Plouay, Lotto Belgium Tour, the Madrid Challenge by la Vuelta and Vuelta a Colombia Femenina. The teams full roster and schedule for 2018 hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Coles-Lyster, who also represented Canada at the last two editions of the junior road world championships in Bergen and Doha, raced in Europe in 2017 with Dutch team Lares-Waowdeals. Through her junior racing career she has been with TaG Cycling.

“Excited to announce that I will be racing for Macogep-Argon18-Girondins p/b Mazda for my 2018 season!” Coles-Lyster wrote in an Instragram post on Thursday. “I am so stoked to join this strong elite women’s Canadian based team which will allow me to get major North American and European race experiences! Looking forward to an amazing season.”

Coles-Lyster is also multiple-time junior track Canadian champion in the track currently holding four titles. The upcoming season sees Coles-Lyster graduate from the junior ranks. Macogep currently count Canadian cyclocross champion Christel Ferrier-Bruneau amoung their ranks. In 2017, the team had six Canadians on its roster.
