Mathieu van der Poel did the coolest thing with his front wheel at the Dutch champs

The CX world champ's skills are something else

Mathieu van der Poel riding

Mathieu van der Poel didn’t win the Dutch road championships on Sunday, but as always he impressed everyone with his skills.

The Alpecin–Deceuninck rider placed third behind winner Dylan van Baarle (Jumbo-Visma) in the 220.4-km race in Sittard. Jumbo took the top two spots, with Olav Kooij taking the silver. For all the pros riding the upcoming Tour de France, the national championship races are the last event before heading to the Grands Départ. The Tour begins July 1 in Bilbao, Spain.

MvdP has always been impressive with his bike handling. Whether it’s taking a racing line around a corner that comes within a millimetre of a bollard or out-bunny hopping Wout van Aert, theDutch rider is something else.

I am once again asking you to appreciate Mathieu van Der Poel’s insane skills

On Sunday, when storming up a short climb in the race, there was a stray bottle in the middle of the road. Hitting a bottle at full gas could be dangerous for a rider. So what did MvdP do? He casually knocked the bidon off the road with his front wheel.

Check out the brilliant show of skills below.
