Canadian cyclocross racer Michael van den Ham had a pretty good weekend. At the Bpost Bank Trofee series Noordvlees Van Gool Essen race, van den Ham finished on the lead lap for the first time in a race of this calibre. His spot in 25th place means he also got some prize money. He mused that the course, with alternating boggy bits and fast parts, is the most American-style course he’s seen in Europe, which could have helped his performance.

Van den Ham followed Essen with the hilly Vlaamse Druivencross Overijse on Sunday. He wasn’t able to match his performance the day before, finishing one lap down.

In the video, van den Ham is join by Australian rider Garry Millburn. Millburn gets very “CX racer” by analyzing his tire choice and pressure in great detail.
