Moncton cyclists begrudge dangerous bicycle lanes

streetcyclistGravel, garbage and glass are all contributing to poor riding conditions for Moncton, NB commuters. According to an article published on CBC’s website, avid cyclists who frequently use the lanes are frustrated. The crux of the issue stems from the reality that riders are often forced into regular traffic lanes while avoiding said debris.

Local cyclists are appreciative of the city’s initiatives to make cycling more accessible, however improvements are crucial. It appears as though the spring clean-up simply didn’t’ happen this year in Moncton.

In response, city councillor Dawn Arnold has said that city staff have swept the roads this year and if cyclists are unhappy with road conditions, they should contact the city. Arnold cited that city staff have been made aware of the importance of clean bicycle lanes and the municipalities emphasis on increasing accessibility.
