Mountain bike rider dead after fall from cliff at Kelso

Niagara Escarpment

On Thursday morning, a 35-year-old mountain bike rider fell to her death at the Kelso Conservation Area near Milton, Ont. According to reports, the woman fell roughly 23 m.

Halton Region Paramedics said they got a call to the popular mountain biking area at around 10:30 a.m. At roughly 11 a.m., the mountain biker was pronounced dead on the scene.

“Right now the body is in a densely wooded area and we expect extraction will take some time,” said Halton Regional Police Sgt. Barry Malciw to CP24.

InsideHalton.com reported that the trails were closed. “We’ve closed them in order to support the Milton Fire Department [in its recovery efforts],” said Conservation Halton’s manager of communication Norm Miller.

Until police are able to notify the rider’s next of kin, her name will not be released.
