Watch: Niki Terpstra mixes Euro techno lyrics into his post-race interviews

2018 Tour of Flanders champion works some catchy tunes into his interviews

Niki Terpstra

Niki Terpstra and his Quick-Step Floors teammates have a lot to celebrate after a wildly successful spring classics season. If his post-race interviews are anything to go by, the Dutch 2018 Tour of Flanders champion just might be turning up the volume on some of his favourite tunes to celebrate the wrapping up of a strong spring cobbled campaign.

After the 2018 Tour of Flanders, a stunned and elated Terpstra sung the lyrics of “Liefde voor muziek” which translates to love for music by Raymond Van het Groenewoud.

But it wasn’t the first time Terpstra has answered questions with song lyrics.

In post-race interviews in years past after wins, Terpstra would answer questions in a similar way. The 2012 Paris-Roubaix winner knows his Euro techno pretty well, even after a hard effort on the bike.

One of the songs Terpstra has quoted is the 1993 song “Maximum Overdrive” by Dutch Eurodance band 2 Unlimited. Another is “Banaan” by Jebroer featuring Stepherd, Skinto and Jayh.

This season Terpstra finished third at this past weekends Paris-Roubaix, won De Ronde Van Vlaanderen and E3-Harelbeke solo, and took the victory at Le Samyn. He is scheduled to race at the Amstel Gold Race on Sunday.
