Nyhaug nabs bronze at BMX continental championships

Canadian Tory Nyhaug won the bronze medal at the BMX continental championships in Chula Vista, Calif., on Sunday. Nyhaug finished behind a pair of Americans in the final heat.

Connor Fields won the race, taking the top spot on the podium. Fellow American Jared Garcia finished second overall, earning the silver medal.

Nyhaug and Fields both won all of their respective qualification motos, meeting for the first time in the final round. Fields led the final heat from start to finish, with Garcia slotting into second at the first turn. Nyhaug held third place through the race.

Nyhaug continues to be Canada’s best BMX racer. He finished the 2013 season sixth overall on the World Cup circuit, overcoming injuries earlier in the season.

The 2014 Supercross World Cup season starts in Manchester, England, April 18–19.
