Nyhaug second in BMX World Cup finale

Under sunny skies in Chula Vista, California, Canadian BMX racer Tory Nuhaug wrapped up his World Cup season with a second place finish on the weekend. Nyhaug also finished third in the Time Trial event earlier in the competition.

Teammate Sam Willoughby took the hole shot and led the race from start to finish, with Nyhaug close behind. By the time they hit the second straight, Willoughby managed to open a gap and hold it to the finish.

American Connor Fields finished third, taking the 2013 World Cup title. Nyhaug finished the season ranked sixth overall.

During the women’s competition, Colombian Mariana Pajon won the race and clinched the World Cup title. Pajon raced past Alice Post on the final straight to grab victory. Thailand’s Amanda Carr finished third overall, her first World Cup podium.

American Arielle Martin finished sixth place, in what was the final race of her career, ranking third overall at the end of the season.

Amelia Walsh was the top ranked Canadian in the World Cup standings, ranked 30th.
