Oman and Richmond vie with Quebec to host 2015 worlds

Oman has thrown its hat in the ring to host the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, the UCI announced Tuesday.

The Sultanate of Oman has thrown its hat in the ring to host the 2015 UCI Road World Championships, the Union Cycliste Internationale announced Tuesday.

Oman joins Quebec City and Richmond, Va., as candidates.

It was decided at the UCI Management Committee in Melbourne last year that only candidatures from outside Europe would be accepted for the 2015 edition of the World Championships in order to acknowledge the increasing interest of non-European countries in organising the Championships.

The UCI Management Committee will make its final decision in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 21-22 September.
