The third annual Ontario Bike Summit will be held in Ottawa on June 28 and 29.

The conference, organized by the Share the Road Coalition, includes presentations by experts and workshops on expanding bike use.

According to a report in Centretown News, the conference is coming to Ottawa thanks to an invitation from the National Capital Commission, which manages much of the pathway network in Ottawa-Gatineau and hosts Sunday Bikedays, in which large sections of the region’s parkways are closed to car traffic for part of each Sunday.

Cycling has been in the news in Ottawa region lately with city council’s decision to create a segregated bike lane along Laurier Ave. across downtown, to open this summer, the launch of a Bixi bike share program, also this summer, and the second annual Grand Prix Cycliste de Gatineau international women’s road race coming in late May.
