Pinarello’s Dogma F8 has certainly merited a lot of attention since its release last year. Sleek, aerodynamic and lightweight, the bike included features like a fork that reduces drag by 40 percent, and quick-reacting power transfer on all phases of a ride—everything from a climb to a sprint. Overall, its introduction to the cycling scene marked an improvement even over Pinarello’s 2012 road frame, something that was already impressive.

As announced recently, though, a modification of the F8 has taken that design to yet another level, with the introduction of components that represent some of the most interesting technological leaps in cycling.

To be released in January, the Pinarello Dogma F8w, the newest addition to the family, is boosted by the addition of the Wireless SRAM Red eTap groupset. As Canadian Cycling Magazine recently demonstrated with a review, the electronic groupset enables an easy, speedy riding experience. A tap of the right lever shifts gears to the smaller sprocket, while the right lever triggers the larger one. Controlling the front lever, meanwhile, is done by pressing both levers together. It’s an intuitive dynamic, made even more so by the use of AIREA transmission technology, employing coded radio frequencies to allow the levers to communicate with the front and rear derailleurs.

In the form of the Dogma F8w, the result is a veritable superbike: one of the fastest frames out there, coupled with one of cycling’s most innovative groupsets.

The Pinarello Dogma F8w will be released on a limited edition basis starting in January, and in terms of its other components, the bike will include Zipp 303 Firecrest Carbon Clincher wheels, as well as Most Aero 3K stems and handlebars. If you’re dying to get your hands on wireless electronic shifting, this will likely be the first available in Canada.
