Dahl was third in Silver City criterium while Kirchmann finished third overall at the Tour of Chongming Island

Tour of the Gila

A mechanical mishap at the Tour of the Gila was captured by photographer Jonathan Devich. The photo is of Adam Bryfogle (Landis/Trek Team) who suffered a spectacular mechanical as his bottom bracket appears to have come loose and is captured exploding with two laps to go in the Stage 4 Silver City criterium.

Kris Dahl of Silber Pro Cycling sprinted to third place behind Eric Marcotte (Team Jamis) and Travis McCabe (Holowesko-Citadel) in the crit. The three were teammates on Team Smartstop in 2014 and 2015. A trio of Canadians; Alex Cataford (Silber Pro Cycling), Rob Britton (Rally Racing) and Matteo Dal-Cin (Silber Pro Cycling) sit two-three-four in the GC heading into the final Stage 5 Gila Monster Road Race.

In the women’s race, Jasmin Glaesser (Rally Cycling) sits fourth overall heading into the Gila Monster Road Race. Her teammate Heather Fischer won the Silver City criterium while Canadian Kirsti Lay also of Rally finished the stage in nineth. Glaesser moved to second in the points classification behind teammate Fischer while she and 19-year-old teammate Sara Poidevin sit one-two in the youth classification.

 

Flèche du Sud

Team RaceClean has earned it’s first leaders jersey going one-two in the young riders classification at Flèche du Sud which concluded on Sunday April 8. Sean Mackinnon took home the white jersey and Adam Jamieson finished right behind him in the classification in second. Mackinnon came seventh on Stage 4 after a crash forced the cancellation of Stage 3.

Tour of Chongming Island World Cup

Leah Kirchmann (Liv-Plantur) finished third overall at the Tour of Chongming Island, the UCI Women’s WorldTour stage race. Kirchmann had two second-places coming into Stage 3, finishing in tenth place in the final stage. Ting Ying Huang of the Chinese Taipei national team won the final stage moving into second place overall behind winner Chloe Hosking (Wiggle High5).

US Speedweek Race 6, Athens Twightlight

Two Canadians were victorious at the sixth race of US Speedweek. Marie-Soleil Blais (Fearless Fem Racin) won the women’s race in Athens, Georgia on May 7 and Ryan Aitcheson (Astellas Cycling Team) won the men’s event.

Tour d’Azerbaïdjan

Canadian national road champion Guillaume Boivin (Cycling Academy) came fifth on the final stage of the Tour d’Azerbaïdjan finishing in 12-place overall in the five-stage race. Boivin came fourth in the first two stages of the race leading overall for a stage.
