Canadian Maghalie Rochette had her best showing of the 2018-2019 UCI Cyclocross World Cup season with sixth place in Bern, Switzerland’s third round on Sunday. Rochette was ninth at Jingle Cross. Dutch legend Marianne Vos earned her second win of the series and padded her lead atop the standings.

Eva Lechner of Italy took the early lead on the first of six laps on the dry, 2.97-km course. Vos made her way up to the front from the second row. On Lap 2 Vos attacked a still sizeable group at the front. Only Annemarie Worst could come close to matching Vos.

Rochette powered her way into the chasing pack that contained World Champion and World Cup title holder Sanne Cant.

Vos had to shake loose her compatriot Worst on the final lap to take the win. American Katherine Compton, winner of last season’s DVV Verzekeringen Trofee, was third. Her fellow American Kaitlyn Keough, who earned the Jingle Cross win, finished 10th. Rochette held off Ellen Van Loy for sixth.

The next round is November 17 in Tabor, Czech Republic.
