Ryan Anderson is Climbing High

Kelly Benefit Strategies racer Ryan Anderson has the KOM Jersey at the Tour of California.

After four days of gutsy and tenacious riding, Canadian Ryan Anderson racing for Kelly Benefit Strategies has captured the King of the Mountains (KOM) Jersey at the Tour of California. For this young 21 year old professional bike racer, this is a massive step forward in his career. Anderson has been riding hard in these early stage of the Tour of California – ever present in the early moves and driving the breaks hard.

Between transfers, recovery, sleeping, and eating, Anderson quickly answered a few questions for us before today’s fifth stage at the Tour of California:

Congrats on the KOM Jersey. Was this a goal of yours for the Tour of California?
No, the KOM Jersey was not a goal of mine until after yesterday’s stage.
You’ve been really visible on all the stages so far, tell us how you’re feeling.
I’ve been feeling really good, each stage seems to be getting better.
What are your impressions of the race so far?
This is one of the nicest races I’ve ever been to. The organization is great and riding is world class.
Is the goal to keep the KOM Jersey for the rest of the race?
Yes that will be the goal of the team to keep the jersey for the rest of the race.
Tell us about the team support you’ve received so far at the Tour of California.
My team has been really supportive, both times after coming back from the break I have been taken care of by my teammates.
What is next for you after the Tour of California?
After TOC I plan on racing the TD sponsored race in Philadelphia, and then Nature Valley Grand Prix and the Canadian National Championships.
