Ryder Hesjedal hosting a day of riding in Victoria

Fans of Ryder Hesjedal will have a chance to ride with him in his hometown of Victoria, B.C. in May.

It’s not a Gran Fondo, just an organized ride with Canada’s top road cyclist in one of the most scenic parts of the country. Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria will be a supported, one-day mass participation cycling event held May 28 in his hometown of Victoria, B.C.

The event will be open to riders of all ages and abilities with distances of 35, 90 and 140 km available.

“If you haven’t ridden the roads in Victoria, you are in for a treat,” event director Seamus McGrath said. “The course will showcase the best of Victoria’s roads. We have it all here: Scenic waterfront routes, quiet rural roads and challenging climbs through majestic rainforest.”

The event’s website at www.tourdevictoria.com will launch Dec. 1 and registration opens in January.
