After putting out the call last year, Saris Cycling Group has unveiled its worldwide who’s-who of brand advocates and ambassadors, who will represent Saris, CycleOps and PowerTap during 2016. The selection of advocates, Saris announced, recognizes their proven, passionate commitment to cycling.

It’s also the largest such team ever, Saris says.

In all, 68 individuals—including some Canadians—were chosen out of a pool of interested cyclists. Their goal, the organization said, is to create stronger communities of cyclists that inspire people to get out and ride. “People like to connect directly with people,” said Saris Cycling Group marketing director Heather Fortune, describing the program’s essentials. “Each of our advocates is an influencer in their local cycling community. Through this network of local brand champions, we can better assist and support new and experienced riders in ways we couldn’t before.”

“We are hoping this program will not simply gain awareness for our brands, but create stronger cycling tribes and spread the joy of cycling,” Fortune added.

As those advocates get ready for their roles, they’ll be provided in-depth information on the products, history, advocacy and philosophy of Saris Cycling Group through the organization’s training camp. They’ll then work closely with local bike shops, connecting with riders in their communities at the grassroots level. Through everything from group rides to virtual indoor rides, advocates are tasked with getting their communities in the saddle, an undertaking that Saris will also support by providing ongoing webinar training.
