Saskatoon plans bike path

Path will connect the university with SIAST

The municipality of Saskatoon announced Wednesday that the city has plans to build a bicycle and pedestrian corridor running from the University of Saskatchewan to the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology. The first phase of the three-meter wide path will run from 3rd Avenue to Spadina Crescent with a million dollars from city coffers earmarked for its construction.

The path will necessitate the removal of a lane of traffic in some areas and will be separated from automobiles by a simple curb or a strip of grass and trees. Fencing will be erected between the path and the CN Rail right-of-way lands.

Saskatoon’s bike path still needs approval from city council. It will cost $6.75 million to build.
