Day four of the Canadian track championships on Saturday saw competition in the event’s masters and U17/U19 classifications, marked by close, tight battles.

It was also the end of master-level competition at these races in Milton, Ontario, with the individual pursuit and keirin races wrapping up an intense, blisteringly-fast few days of racing. Individual pursuit and keirin races put a white-knuckled cap on those competitions, while Canada’s phenomenal next generation of track cyclists — represented by the U17 and U19 classifications — began their omnium events, expected to last around two days. At their halfway point, those races are proving to be anyone’s game.

As Saturday’s competition in those classes wrapped up, the Junior-level omnium events, too, have seen some powerfully decisive rides from Canadian cyclists.

Katherine Maine leads those standings, after a tight battle against Devaney Collier and Anna Talman. Men’s junior omnium standings, meanwhile, see three riders within an eight-point range of each other. Evan Burtnik, Pier-Andre Cote and Bayley Simpson have all breached the all-important 100-point ceiling, meaning that points gained for the remainder of competition are all the more critical.

Sunday will see the fifth and final day of the Canadian track championships contested.
