Silver Star opens Nordic trails to fat bikes

Vernon, B.C.’s Silver Star Mountain Resort announced that it will allow fat bikes to ride on its Nordic and snowshoeing trails during the winter months. The resort opened select trails to fat bikes for the first time on Monday.

“Fat bikes will be making their debut on selected cross-country and snowshoe trails at the resort starting today,” said Silver Star Mountain’s Nordic manager Guy Paulsen in The Vancouver Sun earlier this week. “We are conducting an official trial for fat biking on two specific trails and want to make sure fat biking is a good fit at the resort and doesn’t negatively impact some of cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

“We are very encouraged at the growth of the sport and how it can fit into the healthy mountain lifestyle here. We’re really excited to add this to our long list on activities at Silver Star. It’s a unique way for our guests to get out on the trails and explore the beauty of British Columbia.”

Cyclists will have until April 6 to ride fat bikes on select trails at Silver Star Mountain Resort.
