Smith crowned King of Crankworx
Canadian downhill racer Steve Smith is on a roll. A week after winning the Mont Sainte Anne World Cup, Smith came out on top at the Canadian Open downhill, the finale of the 2013 Crankworx festival in Whistler, B.C.
Smith was the favourite before the event, both for his success at Sainte Anne, but also having won the Canadian Open race at Crankworx 2012.

Smith blitzed the course to the bottom and was surprised that he won after some mistakes on course.

Smith won ahead of Mich Hannah and Sam Blenkinsop, who finished second and third respectively.
Emmeline Ragot won the women’s race, ahead of Canadian Claire Bucher. Floriane Pugin finished third.
Buchar has returned from injuries sustained in April after a car she was in was hit by an out of control SUV in Australia. Despite severe injuries, Buchar recovered and was cleared to race in June.
