Announced a few months ago, the new Specialized Lululemon Cycling Team that includes multiple Olympic medallist Clara Hughes is together in Carlsbad, California right now for a training camp. The team was introduced to a group of journalists from around the world this morning.

Team owner Kristy Scrymgeour introduced the 13 athletes this morning. “This partnership is one of the best things that’s happened to women’s cycling in the last few years,” she said of the partnership between Specialized and Lululemon to support the team after HTC-Highroad pulled out last year. “I think this is the best team we’ve had so far – we have some great new additions who have added well to team.”

One of those is Hughes, who will be aiming to add another Olympic medal to her impressive list that includes two bronze cycling medals from the 1996 games, along with bronze speed skating medals in 2002 and 2010, and the silver and gold medals she won in 2006.

Joining Hughes on the team are:

German sprint star Ina-Yoko Teutenberg and countrywomen Trixi Worrack, Charlotte Becker and Lisa Brennauer, Americans Evelyn Stevens, Amber Neben and Ally Stacher, Holland’s Ellen van Dijk, Sweden’s Emilia Fahlin, Australians Chloe Hosking and Loren Rowning, and Great Britain’s Katie Colclough.

The team will be riding the new Specialized S-Works Amira 2012 and the S-Works Shiv, using S-Works and Pro model shoes and Body Geometry saddles.

We’ll have more from the training camp over the next few days.
