Most hockey players are using September to get ready for the upcoming season. But New York Islander Steve Webb uses this month to raise thousands of dollars for Alzheimer’s and Dementia research through his W20 Foundation. As he did last year, Webb is making the 650-mile journey from New York, where he retired from the National Hockey League in 2004, to his hometown of Peterborough, Ontario.

This year, Webb is being joined for the entire ride by TSN anchor Dan O’Toole, and Webb’s cousin Ryan Neal. The three are now in Syracuse, N.Y. and will cross into Canada Thursday night in Buffalo. Along the way, the group has been joined by a variety of guest riders. On Friday, Canadian Cycling Magazine editor Dan Dakin will join the ride as it heads out of Niagara Falls toward Toronto.
