Team Canada announced for the Pan-American championships

Cycling Canada CyclismeOn Wednesday, Cycling Canada Cyclisme announced the track endurance team for the Pan-American Championships scheduled for September 11 to 14 in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The primary goal for the National team is to accumulate as many UCI points as possible in Olympic events; the team pursuit, team sprint, omnium, sprint and keirin.

Key riders who will be attending are Gillian Carleton who is returning to international competition after injury and illness. Monique Sullivan will race internationally for the first time since 2012, while the women’s team pursuit squad, Allison Beveridge, Stephanie Roorda, Jasmin Glaesser, and Kristi Lay will all be aiming for a top placing. Also, former Olympic bobsledder, Kate O’Brien will compete in the sprint after she earned a spot at the LA Endurance track camp earlier this year.

The men’s squad will be missing two key riders, Zach Bell and Nic Hamilton. Sean Mackinnon will be in the squad after he served as an alternate at the Commonwealth Games.
