Tim Carleton makes his second visit to South Africa this week as one of only two riders to represent Canada, and the entire continent of North America, at the 2014 UCI mountain bike marathon world championships in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

Carleton’s season got off to a delayed start after an unseasonably long winter back home in Toronto. After racing domestically in the Canada and Ontario Cup Series, Tim’s visit to to South Africa kicks off a busy international race schedule in lead-up to the Canadian XC mountain bike championships, to be held at Hardwood Ski and Bike north of Toronto mid-July. After racing in the UCI MTB marathon worlds in South Africa, Tim will travel to Belgium to continue building on his form with some training rides, and then head over to Latvia to compete in the UCI cross country marathon series.

In the video interview, Carleton talks about his previous racing experience in South Africa, his race goals for Canadian XC and marathon championships this season and his plan to return again to South Africa to participate in the gruelling eight-day Cape Epic race, held annually in late March.
