Tirreno-Adriatico Stage Race Updates

Michael Barry and Ryder Hesjedal are sitting well in the general classification.

The second-to-last stage of Tirreno-Adriatico ended today with Mikhail Ignatiev (Katusha) managing to be the single survivor of an earlier 12-man break. The two Canadians racing in Tirreno-Adriatico, both finished strong with Michael Barry (Sky Professional Racing Team) in 31st and Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin-Transitions) in 88th. In the overall general classification, Hesjedal is sitting in 40th and Barry is in 47th.

Barry answered a few questions for us after the race:

How was your day today?
It went fairly well. Although the stage was short the course was tough and selective. My fitness is progressively getting better with each race and today I was quite comfortable on the climbs.

This is the second last day of the stage race, how are you feeling?
Overall I feel pretty good. Obviously a stage race is wearing but I am recovering well and am getting stronger.

How is the team feeling?
The team is doing well and everybody is getting stronger. We should be at our peak for the coming classics.

What are you expecting for the last stage?
We will be riding for a field sprint tomorrow and will set up Edvald Boasson Hagen to go for the win.

Looking ahead, what’s next for you after Tirreno-Adriatico?
Milan San Remo on Saturday and then the cobbled classics.
