Toms Skujins’ wild dancing Tour of California victory celebration
Latvian puts memories of last year's crash behind him with wild dance celebration
A year ago, Toms Skujins stumbled as he attempted to get up from that tarmac after a scary crash on Stage 2 of the Tour of California. The high-speed crash left the Latvian with road rash and a concussion. Skujins put those memories behind him on Tuesday winning Stage 3 of the 2018 edition to Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey.

Skujins escaped from the peloton in the closing kilometres of the stage sweeping up the breakaway and then escaping with Sean Bennett of Hagens Berman Axeon. The Latvian put in a late dig to hold off a charging peloton. Bennett finished second with Caleb Ewan taking third in the sprint. It was Skujins third career win at the Tour of California.
Sometimes I day dream about a cool victory salute I could trademark. It was never this, mostly because impossible to do those moves again https://t.co/jJOv3WuIU4

Skujins celebration at the finish line made the win particularly memorable. Seemingly dancing to a beat in his head before posting up upon crossing the line, Skujins poked fun at himself for the emotional celebration.
“Sometimes I day dream about a cool victory salute I could trademark. It was never this, mostly because impossible to do those moves again,” he Tweeted following the stage.
