Three of our favourite pieces from the Castelli 2016 Fall/Winter collection

A pair of bibs, a rain jacket and gloves perfect for the cold-weather

As the nights become cooler and the shadows longer, it’s time to start coming to grips with the fact it’s soon going to be time to pull out cold-weather gear to enjoy the fall riding. Road racing season is rapidly winding down with cyclists pulling out their gravel and ‘cross bikes for some late season adventuring. With the cooler and sometimes wet fall weather in mind, Castelli announced their line-up in for their Fall/Winter 2016 collection. Here are the three pieces from the collection we are most excited to get our hands on in order to better enjoy our favourite fall rides.

Omloop thermal bib shorts

Having the right apparel for cold days can be a ride saver. The Omloop Thermal bib shorts have a fleece lining that goes right down to the knee. It’s a performance piece of apparel that allows mobility without any restriction. The bibs use a soft fleecy Thermoflex fabric for warmth in cold conditions and the Progetto X2 Air seat pad for comfort on the behind. It’s a piece of gear you’ll be reaching for when the weather is nippy and you want to go fast.

Boa Glove

A snug fitting glove with adjustability to keep out cold air and the wet, the Castelli Boa Glove uses the dials that are increasingly popular on shoes to keep your hands protected from the elements. The gloves are made from OutDry waterproof fabric and are fleece lined. If your hands are prone to get cold and you want to ride in all conditions, these gloves could be the perfect solution.

Tempesta rain jacket

Getting rained on during your ride can be a real downer that has you dreaming of a shower and a warm cup of tea. When soggy weather appears in the forecast it is sometimes hard to get motivated to head out and put in those base miles. Lighter and more compact, the Tempesta will keep you protected so you can continue to enjoy the riding without getting soggy and chilled. Many rain jackets are bulky with insufficient breathability or simply don’t keep you dry. The Tempesta promises protection from the rain and a more comfortable ride with a race cut that can easily be stored away in your back pocket. The jacket uses eVent fabric that is designed to offer rain protection and more moisture transfer than any of the competitors. When there is rain in the forecast, these features would surely have us reaching for one of these.
