The popular ball player was loving the ride to work

Kevin Kiermaier, the Toronto Blue Jay outfielder, had his bike swiped when he was away from home. The new acquisition to the team has been mega-popular at the Rogers Centre, both for his performance and attitude. The ball player always has a smile on his face, and runs out to his position at the start of every inning. And for all of us who love bikes, he even rides to work when he’s playing at home. No need for a sports car or Uber, he prefers to commute.

Unfortunately, when he was away, a thief snagged his ride.

“I got some bad news,” Kiermaier told CityNews sports reporter Lindsay Dunn on Monday. “My garage door was malfunctioning during a road trip, and it was going up and down. The neighbour said it was left open for maybe more than a day, and it was very enticing for someone, and they yanked it.”

Kiermaier not only used his bike to ride to work, but also to get around town. “It’s all right, though. It got me to and from the park. I am thankful for my bike rides.”

The 33-year-old was traded to Toronto from Tampa Bay in December on a one-year contract, and has been delivering all season. He is hitting .270/.334/.417 in 90 games with five home runs, 24 RBIs, five triples and 11 stolen bases.

“I try to always make my time here on the field count. I want to make the best of this,” Kiermaier said.

Many fans are suggesting on Twitter that his contract extension should include a bike. And even though he makes $9 million, it’s never fun to have your bike ripped off.
