Tour de Beauce Stage 1 Results

Rafael Serrano Fernandez (Heraklio-Murcia) won the opening stage of the Tour de Beauce.

The opening stage of the Tour de Beauce ended in fine form today with Rafael Serrano Fernandez (Heraklio-Murcia) holding off a hard-charging peloton to cross the line in Lac-Etchemin, Quebec. The first stage of this six stage race took riders on a 165 kilometer road race in and around Lac-Etchemin.

A large breakaway managed to get away from an active peloton thanks in part to a tricky gravel road section that saw 10 riders crash. The top Canadian on the day was Charles Dionne of Fly V Australia in third place with Andrew Pinfold of United Healthcare p/b Maxxis coming for fourth place. Second place on the day went to Ukranian Sergiy Grechyn of Amore & Vita – Conad.

Stage 2 sees the riders racing a 160 kilometer route starting and ending in Thetford-Mines, Quebec.
