Tour de Suisse: Kruijswijk prevails, Soler possibly fractures skull

Cunego keeps race lead, Ryder moves up a bit

The surprising new Dutch talent Steven Kruijswijk attacked an elite group of riders on the final HC Triesenberg/Malbun summit to win on a day that saw Mauricio Soler end up with a possible skull fracture after colliding with spectators. The Colombian climber, who was second on GC at the start of the stage, was airlifted to a hospital. The Little Prince, Damiano Cunego of Lampre, still leads the race, 1:23 over Kruijswijk’s teammate Bauke Mollema. Kruijswijk sits third after coming in ninth in last month’s Giro d’Italia.

After another day in the mountains tomorrow, the TdS will feature a flat stage before a 32.1 km individual team trial on Sunday.

Canada’s Ryder Hesjedal moved up three spots on GC to 23rd.
