Trek-Segafredo rider’s bike snaps clean in half at Herald Sun Tour
Laurent Didier's crash and withdrawal sole setback in fantastic week for squad
Trek-Segafredo has been on a real tear of late, taking six wins since January 24, including Friday’s victory at the Herald Sun Tour in Australia courtesy of Mads Pederson. But one bummer for the American WorldTour squad was the crash of Luxembourger Laurent Didier in the first stage of the Sun Tour that snapped his Trek Emonda Disc in half.

Didier crashed with three Australians, including two Aussies from EF-Drapac as riders struggled to hold the bunch in the wicked crosswinds. Luxembourg’s national road champion of 2012 carried on on a new rig, but did not start Friday’s stage into Ballarat where his Danish teammate prevailed.
#SunTour S2: Unfortunately, @laurentdidier was unable to take the start after his crash yesterday. He is not seriously injured, but has enough scrapes and contusions on his back, elbow, leg and a swollen hand, that to continue would be fruitless. We wish him a speedy recovery. pic.twitter.com/r310H8l84K

So far this season, Pederson, Ryan Mullen, John Degenkolb, Toms Skujiņš and Giacomo Nizzolo have scored triumphs for Trek-Segafredo.

The squad’s Dutch stage race Bauke Mollema will concentrate on the Tour de France this season.
