U23 Nations Cup

Hugo Houle takes third place on the first stage of the U23 Nations Cup Ville de Saguenay.

After 140.7 kilometers of racing at the first stage of the U23 Nations Cup Ville de Saguenay, Canadian Hugo Houle was standing on the third step of the podium. The seven laps of the 20.1 kilometer circuit saw 72 riders from 13 countries fighting out for the first stage victory. The stage was won by Sebastian Lander (Denmark) and Philipp Ries (Germany) was second.

With speeds averaging 45.47 kilometers an hour for the duration, the attacks were constant but a break failed to form. With the sprinters collecting at the front of the peloton, David Boily led Houle out capturing third place. Houle is also the leader in the young rider classification.

Friday’s stage two has a more challenging circuit with a solid climb that is expected to help establish a breakaway.
