USA Pro Cycling Challenge to feature eight Canadians on four teams

SpiderTech to provide five Canadians

The start lists of the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge were announced today, and the reboot of the old Coors Challenge in Colorado will see eight Canadian riders competing on four teams, the foremost being the Canadian squad of SpiderTech. At the moment several of these racers are taking part in the Tour of Utah “next door”. The 2.1 rated USAPCC takes place from August 22nd to the 28th.

The big name, of course, is Ryder Hesjedal, Canada’s most notable cyclist after his last two Tour de France successes. He’ll be joined by such teammates as Tom Danielson and Christian Vande Velde, all three of whom were part of the squad that won the best team category in July’s Tour.

Four of SpiderTech’s five scheduled USAPCC riders are in Utah: Bruno Langlois, Francois Parisien, Andrew Randell and Ryan Roth will be joined by David Boily in Colorado.

Yesterday, Rob Britton of Bissell provided Canada’s best performance in the sharp little Tour of Utah prologue at 41st. He’ll line up for another prologue in Colorado Springs in just under two weeks’ time.

Finally, Nic Hamilton will be the only non-American on Jelly Belly.
