Watch: Rider’s attack foiled by race moto driving dangerously at Brabantse Pijl

Team Sunweb's Liane Lippert had to take evasive action mid-attack when a race official on a motorcycle nearly took her out

Dangerous driving from a race moto at the women’s edition of Brabantse Pijl nearly took out an attacking rider on Wednesday. Liane Lippert launched a stinging attack with 117 km remaining in the 137-km race but a race official on a moto swerved erratically forcing Lippert to the curb and nearly resulted in a crash.

Team Sunweb brought a strong team to Brabantse Pijl with a number of riders capable of being in contention at the end of the race. To try to take advantage of her situation early in the event, Lippert went on the attack with 117 km still to race. She managed to get good separation from the peloton but the moto abruptly interrupted her considerable momentum.

Sunweb would end the day with Coryn Rivera on the podium with Floortje Mackaij fifth, Canadian Leah Kirchmann eighth and Lippert 13th.
