Wiggins wraps up Dauphine/Soler climbs to TdSuisse lead

Ryder has poor first mountain day in Switzerland

Bradley Wiggins raced within himself on two big mountains Sunday and would not be denied the Dauphiné Libéré title. The Brit’s biggest stage race win of his career came on the same day that Katusha’s irrepressible Joaquin Rodriguez climbed to his second summit victory in two days. Rodriguez jumped up to fifth on G.C., the same place he finished in last month’s Giro d’Italia. Top 5 Final G.C.: Bradley Wiggins (Sky) 26:40:51; Cadel Evans (BMC) + 1:26; Alexander Vinokourov (Astana) + 1:49; Jurgen Van Den Broeck (Omega-Pharma Lotto) +2:10; Joaquin Rodriguez (Katusha) +2:51

At the Tour de Suisse, Movistar’s Colombian Mauricio Soler attacked title-holder Frank Schleck and Damiano Cunego on the last climb of the day, Crans-Montana, to take both his first win in four years and the race lead. Soler won the climber’s jersey at the 2007 Tour de France. Garmin-Cervelo’s Ryder Hesjedal had a disappointing day, finish 46th at 5:33 behind Soler.
