Castelli and Canadian Cycling Magazine Italian getaway finalist Tony Mayer

After two weeks of taking entries, seven finalists in the dream cycling getaway to Italy by Castelli and Canadian Cycling Magazine have been chosen. Now it’s up to you to pick the grand prize winner, the person who will ride in the Maratona dles Dolomites sporting full kit by Castelli. Tony’s entry

I’m super excited about the Maratona dles Dolomites. I’m a Prairie boy, used to lots of flat. Then I moved to Vancouver, where I was able to taste hills and mountains. Friends introduced me to cycling and I fell in love with the sport. I moved back to the Prairies (I now live in Calgary) where there are hills, and the mountains aren’t too far away.

I was fortunate enough to spend some time with my bike in Europe. The picture that I’ve attached is in Heidelberg. I chose it for two reasons:

1) You can see how happy I am to be with my bike and
2) This is the best picture I have of me and my bike in Europe. That’s right, this slightly-out-of-focus-tilted-picture-in-which-you-can’t-really-see-the-castle is the best one I have. My gut is plainly visible, but so is the joy I have with cycling.

So please, help me get a picture with my bike in Europe that I can be proud of.

Also, you can see I’m wearing hand-me-down kit from a buddy of mine. I could use some new kit that doesn’t try to pretend I belong on a team!
