Heath’s Gran Fondo to cover the rolling terrain of the Durham region

11JerseyOn Sunday, Endras BMW in Ajax, Ont., will host Heath’s Gran Fondo, a cycling celebration. The event will include two routes: a medio and gran fondo. The medio fondo will be 85 km and the gran fondo will be 120 km.

Beginning at 8:45 a.m., both rides will depart Endras BMW and head north into the picturesque roads of the Durham region. The parcours are new this year and will include rolling hills that will be challenging without being too difficult. Cyclists will be able to ride at their own speed and without worry. There will be both lead and follow vehicles on the medio and gran fondo rides. The support vehicles will have all the amenities a cyclist could need, including mechanical support, clothing and nutrition.

The medio fondo will serve as a ride for new comers to cycling. The group will aim to ride between 20-25 km/h while the gran fondo will be faster at faster than 30 km/h. Both groups will be inclusive with the premise that no rider will be left behind.

Benjamin Perry, Canada’s current under-23 national road champion, will be a guest of honour. Perry has just completed his season after representing Canada at the Tour of Alberta and Grand Prix Cyclistes de Québec and Montréal.

Following the completion of both fondos, all participants will be treated to a lunch, silent auction and raffle prizes. The finale of the elite men’s world championship road race will also be streamed live during the lunch. Complete information can be found at the 11.
