MTB instructor course in Crowsnest

Learn how to lead group rides, teach better bike skills

If you’ve ever been interested in teaching mountain biking, IMBA Canada is offering an instructor training session in Crowsnest Pass, AB., August 29 to September 1, 2013. The course is ideal for those looking to lead group rides or teach beginner and intermediate skills to newer riders.

Over the 28 hours of instruction, potential instructors will learn neutral and ready positions on a bike, how to keep body and bike separate, as well as skills for improving braking, shifting, turning and climbing.

Candidates must successfully complete a written test and two practical exams to achieve certification. While the course is listed as a “Level 2,” There is no requirement for Level 1 certification. However, all candidates must have current CPR and First Aid, and should have at least five years of riding experience, along with a good attitude.

The course cost of $720 USD includes a course manual and a one year membership with ICP.
