This coming weekend the Coast to Coast Cancer foundation will run it’s annual Tour for Kids in Ontario. The Ontario weekend is the third installment of their “Triple Crown” series of fundraising rides. The Alberta event was held in early July, while the Atlantic portion happened earlier this month.

Cyclists participating in the Tour for Kids Ontario will be riding between two and four days around the GTA. Starting each day from the University of Waterloo, each route will have a new course that is set to challenge all riders and any ability.

The goal for the Tour is to raise funds to improve the quality of life for children and their families who are living with or have had cancer. To date, $8 million dollars has been raised through the Tour for Kids ride. It has grown from 70 in initial participants into a nationwide effort that now involves thousands of cyclists.

With the funding raised, the Tour allocates 100% of the funds to the SickKids Hospital. Furthermore funding is donated towards renovating outdated infrastructure in several overnight kids cancer camps and finally improving the delivery of service across all three camps.

In 2013 the majority of the funding will be given to three camps; Camp Oochigeas, Camp Trillium and Camp Quality.

This year’s Ontario event is the largest Tour for Kids to date. For more information visit the Tour for Kids where there is information on the foundation, initiatives and the associated camps.
