Allison Beveridge and Sara Bergen join Rally Cycling for 2017

Join Kirsti Lay, Sara Poidevin and Katherine Maine as Canadians on American squad directed by Zach Bell

Rally Cycling have added two Canadians to their 2017 women’s team roster. Returning Canadians Kirsti Lay, Katherine Maine and Sara Poidevin are joined by Olympic silver medallist Allison Beveridge and Sara Bergen at the American squad for the 2017 season. The team which races extensively in North America and will travel to select events in Europe focuses on rider development and adds to their team with promising riders for the coming season.

Beveridge, a native of Calgary, was a member of Canada’s women’s team pursuit team that earned a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. As a member of the Canada’s women’s team pursuit, she helped Canada to multiple podium places at World Cup races. At the 2015 world track cycling championships, Beveridge took home a bronze medal in the team pursuit and in the scratch race.

Joining Beveridge will be Sara Bergen from Coquitlam, B.C. who is fresh off a successful season with the Trek Red Truck Racing team. Multiple podium places at BC Superweek was followed up with a stint in Europe before heading to her first world road cycling championships in Qatar.

Returning Canadians on Rally are Pan Am, world championship and Olympic medallist Lay who resides in Montreal will be a team leader in the coming season. Having spent the past years focused on the track targetting the Rio Olympics, Lay will shift her focus to the road for the coming season.

Poidevin distinguished herself as a climber in 2016 winning the mountains classification at the Redlands Classic and spending a day in the QOM jersey at the Tour of California having tied for points with Megan Guarnier, the race leader on the races first stage. Also returning is 18-year-old Katherine Maine

Returning the the team are American riders Erica Allar and Emma White while Olympic silver medalist Kelly Catlin, collegiate D1 national road race champion Monica Volk, Caitlin Laroche and junior Megan Heath also join the team.

Former Canadian pro, Zach Bell continues with the team in his role as team director and expressed enthusiasm for the coming season. “For 2017 the team adds another group of talented riders,” said Bell. “With a positive team environment and structure already established, Rally Cycling will help them progress and reach their full potential as athletes.

“With returning riders like Erica, Sara, Emma and Kirsti, we have proven strength with room to grow,” Bell explained. “To complement their strengths, we added several new riders that have already shown the ability to race at a high level. The entire team has been working hard and we are excited to get the season started.”

The men’s team also features a number of Canadians on their 2017 with Matteo Dal-Cin, Rob Britton, Adam de Vos and Pierrick Naud.
