Drama in the men's team pursuit

Milton Track World Cup

On Sunday night, the UCI track cycling World Cup being hosted at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton, Ont. concluded. Strong results for Canada included  a silver in the men’s team pursuit and fourth place finishes for Hugo Barrette in the sprint, and Steph Roorda and Jasmin Duehring in the Madison.

The crash for Canada’s Michael Foley in the team pursuit defined the session. The four man team of Canada was comfortably in the lead when with less than 1,000 m to race overlapping wheels sent Foley down to the boards. With it their chance at gold faded as they ended up rolling in nearly one second behind New Zealand who they had been leading by the same margin when the crash occurred.
