Kirchmann secures podium at Redlands Bicycle Classic

Leah Kirchmann of the Optum presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies pro cycling team dropped to third place overall at the end of the fifth and final stage of the Redlands Bicycle Classic. Entering the demanding 109 kilometre stage, as the race leader, Kirchmann lost contact with a select group that included eventually winner Tayler Wiles (Specialized lululemon) and Mara Abbot (United Healthcare pro cycling). Despite losing the race lead on the final stage Kirchmann had a successful week of racing. She won two stages en-route to finishing third place overall.

The Redlands Bicycle Classic is the first race of the USA Cycling’s National Racing Calendar (NRC). The next race on the calendar will be the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic on April 18th.
