Thousands of spectators and competitors are in Whistler for the next 10 days as Canada's most exciting mountain bike festival--Crankworx--started Friday August 7th with the Fat-Tire Crit.

Thousands of spectators and competitors are in Whistler for the next 10 days as Canada’s most exciting mountain bike festival–Crankworx–started Friday August 7th with the Fat-Tire Crit. This particular event pulls mountain bikers out of the forest and has them compete in aggressive crit racing in the middle of the Whistler pedestrian village.

The 2015 event featured several top crit racers, including Cody Canning and Craig Ritchey, but the men’s race was won by young XC racer Quinn Moberg, who rode hard all race to preserve his spot near the front. Canning and Ritchey used their experience to control the race and take each of the primes before Moberg out sprinted the other top men to take the top step on the podium.

In the earlier women’s race, last year’s winner Jean Ann Berkenpas took a controlling lead and dominated the field. The spectators enjoyed the fast racing, attacks, crashes and high speed sprints as the XC crew competed for the first win of Crankworx 2015.
