National champion is ranked 17th in the world

Fresh off retaking the Canadian national cyclocross title, Maghalie Rochette will be the sole representative of her country in Saturday’s fourth round of the UCI World Cup in Tabor, Czech Republic. Rochette is ranked 17th in the elite women’s category as of Thursday, with world champion Sanne Cant first.

A week before becoming the Canadian champion, Rochette earned the Pan-American title.

Rochette started the season on form with victories in both RenoCross and Rochester before the World Cup kicked off with races in the U.S.A..

In Round One at Waterloo, Wisconsin on September 23, Rochette did not finish the race, explaining on Instagram, “Health has not been there in the last few days. I decided to call it a day yesterday cause I felt like racing was making my situation worse.” But she bounced back the next week at Jingle Cross in Iowa with ninth before achieving her best World Cup result of the season with sixth in Bern, Switzerland, on October 21.

One rider who won’t be lining up in the Czech Republic is Marianne Vos, winner of the Waterloo and Bern rounds. The Dutch great will be back for the Koksijde, Belgium event on November 25. Vos has the World Cup lead, 60 points over Cant with American Kaitlin Keough in third place.
