Remco Evenepoel may not have defended his rainbow jersey, but at least he’s snagged some Strava KOMs on a training ride in Scotland. On Tuesday, the Belgian went out for a ride in Stirling on his TT rig to prepare for Friday’s big event, and it’s clear he’s got some fitness.

There’s now a Strava segment where Mathieu van der Poel pooped at the road worlds

He embarked on an 87-km cycling ride on Tuesday, starting and ending in Dunblane. He covered the route, which involved a total elevation gain of 536 m, in slightly less than two hours, maintaining an average speed of 44.9 km/h. The Belgian had a disappointing defence of his road title, coming in 25th.

Remco Evenepoel changes mind, uploads Liège-Bastogne-Liège win to Strava

With that sort of quickness, the Soudal Quick-Step was clearly getting rid of some of the cobwebs in his legs from Sunday’s road race. As you can expect, he took a whole lot of KOMs in the area. 24, to be exact.

His caption for the ride? “Speed.” That checks out. There are a lot of locals who lost their crowns to the former world champ. But hey, if you’re going to lose your title, who better to get beaten by?
