Sven Nys developing cyclocross with the help of Trek

Retired cyclocross star Sven Nys is partnering with Trek to continue the development of the sport he dominated over his career.

Retired cyclocross star Sven Nys is collaborating with Trek on a new initiative to develop the future stars of the sport he dominated over his career. The two time world champion (2005, 2013) won over 140 pro races and the overall at the World Cup seven times. In 2014, Nys switched from riding Colnago to Trek with the release of the Trek Boone.

Trek will lend its support to the Sven Nys Cycling Center which will open up this summer in Balenberg, Belgium. The facility will give fans and enthusiast the experience to compete in world class level ‘cross events. The center will also give young athletes access to training facilities in the hopes of developing the stars of the future. The facility hosts the GP Sven Nys launched in 2000, which Nys has won on 12 of the 16 occasions he’s competed in it.

Sven Nys rides up the Taaienberg

Trek and Bontrager have also signed an agreement with the Telenet-Fidea Team which Nys has become the manager in his retirement. The company will supply bikes and equipment to the team of former two time world champion Zdenek Stybar who now races on the road with Etixx-Quickstep.

Nys has extended his relationship with Trek and will continue to be an ambassador of the brand in his retirement. The company announced that he will be closely involved in the development of products and equipment.
