UCI elite men’s road worlds neutralized due to protest

Unclear when it will resume

UPDATE: After a delay of over 40 minutes, the racing has resumed. The nine riders in the breakaway set off first, and nine minutes later the peloton was allowed to start.

191 km from the finish line, the UCI world championships for the elite men in Glasgow have been halted. All riders are being held at the same point. At that location, the times between the breakaway and the main pack groups are being taken. Once the protesters have been removed from the road, the race will resume. At the time of the race neutralization, a break of nine had over seven minutes on the field.

According to the UCI, the four protesters will allow the riders to go on, but no team vehicles.

Apparently the foursome have cemented their hands to the pavement. Race staff are now trying to remove them but it is taking a while.
