Which UCI WorldTour teams will Canadians be cheering for in 2018?

In one week, the 2018 WorldTour season kicks off with the Santos Tour Down Under in Australia. No Canadian team has UCI WorldTour or UCI Pro Continental status (though Rally Cycling has a strong Canadian contingent). With the kits, bikes and rosters for all 18 of the teams at the UCI WorldTour set for the year, it’s time to consider which squads you will be cheering for in 2018. After all, there isn’t a Canadian team to root for by default.

While cycling is a dynamic sport with individual riders often favoured over entire teams whose rosters change for nearly every race on the calendar, there are some squads that you probably root for. While sponsors change season to season and the team’s jersey may only look vaguely the same as last year, WorldTour teams each have their identities. There is also consistency from 2017 to 2018 with no teams folding, moving into or out of the WorldTour as has been the case in past off-seasons. Whether it’s because they have the best personalities on their roster, your favourite rider, are the underdogs you always hope succeed or the team of your favourite Canadian rider, Canadian Cycling Magazine wants to know which WorldTour teams you are rooting for in 2018.
